The Design Process

Consultation

We’ll meet to assess your outside space and go through your garden aspirations. This will inform the project brief and specific design process for your garden. From here, site surveys will be organised.

Planting Design

I’ll create plans for all the planted areas, with an exact size and location for every plant. This allows me to be accurate in the procurement of stock, and creates considered, balanced and beautiful schemes.

Site Surveys

Dependant on size and complexity, topographical and soil surveys are either undertaken in house, or trusted contractors are appointed. This ensures the design is based on accurate data.

Tender Documents

Specification of works documents will be prepared and sent out to contractors as part of a tender package. From here, we will appoint an acredited contractor to bring the design to life.

Concept Design

Informed by the brief and site surveys, I’ll create a concept design focussing on layout and hard landscaping materials, with consideration to a planting palette.

Planting

Where possible, I like to undertake the planting myself, ensuring the plants are given the best start. For large schemes, I work alongside trusted contractors.

Technical Specification

Once the concept design is approved, setting out drawings, cross sections, level plans and hard landscaping drawings are completed. Where necessary, structural engineers will be appointed.

Completion

Following the completion of the works, I’ll provide you with a maintenance schedule to keep your garden on track and well cared for as it matures. Now it’s time to enjoy your new space!
